Why Kristopher Mark? Kristopher Mark Designs distinguishes themselves from other jewelry stores in many ways. The most distinctive way is our extensive experience with In Store Custom Design utilizing CAD-CAM technology, which stands for “Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Machining”. In fact, in 2004, Kristopher Mark Designs was one of the first to bring Computer Aided Design to the forefront of the retail jewelry market.
What does that mean to me?
Many customers will never need the flexibility that custom design provides. However, there are a number of circumstances that do require the need for the rapid prototyping of a modified or completely new design.
Let’s say you’re having problems finding a wedding band that fits with your engagement ring. You go from store to store looking through showcases, looking through catalogs and surfing the Net until the whole process starts to become an unpleasant chore. You know what you want, but you can’t find exactly what you’re searching for and you become disenchanted with the thought of having to settle.
Discovering Kristopher Mark…
This time things are different. The store is inviting and the person you meet with is genuinely interested in your satisfaction. After a friendly consultation, you hear the words, “no problem, we can create that”. After your initial consultation, the designer Kristopher Mark, will engineer and then review with you your new design. Now you get to see your band come to life in a 3-D image on a computer screen. Too wide, no problem; not enough diamonds, no problem; a polished edge here, an antique edge there… The design is tweaked and modified until you have approved the design you’ve been dreaming of all along. That’s the “CAD” part.
Now, the programmed 3-D image and data is uploaded to our 4-axis milling machine or grown using stereo-lithography to machine your dimensionally accurate master wax model from the virtual design. The wax model is an exact 3-D rendition of the image you loved and approved. That’s the “CAM” part.
Fulfillment of your Dream…
The master wax model now gets cast in your choice of metal alloy either in 14 or 18 karat white or yellow gold, or platinum. Every Kristopher Mark CAD-CAM design is cast in refined alloys. All aspects of the piece are meticulously assembled and finished by hand. Diamonds and gemstones are selected and matched by our in house GIA Gemologist to insure precise matching and quality. Every prong is hand cut and polished by our master setters to facilitate the setting of individual gemstones and/or diamonds. The finished piece is a work of art in the form of your diamond band. This unique design is an heirloom quality piece that you can be proud to own and enjoy for years to come.
